Makharbek Khadartsev is a Soviet, Russian and Uzbek freestyle wrestler, two-time Olympic champion, five-time world champion, five-time European champion, multiple champion of the USSR, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. Makharbek started wrestling in 1979. His first coach was Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of the USSR Aslan Khadartsev, Maharbek's older brother. Aslan was a talented athlete, he won the World Championship three times, the European Championship twice. In 1986, the Khadartsev brothers performed at the Goodwill Games in different weight categories and both became champions. In 1990, Aslan Khadartsev died in a car accident at the age of 29. In the national team of the USSR Khadartsev was since 1986. In its part he became the Olympic champion, five-time world champion, three-time European champion. In 1992, he participated in Olympic Games in the CIS United team. In its part, he became the Olympic champion for the second time and the European champion for the fourth time. From 1993 to 1996, he defended the flags of the Russian national team. In its part, he became an Olympic silver medalist, a two-time silver and bronze medalist of the World Championships, and won the European Championship for the fifth time. In 2000, the 36-year-old athlete, who had already failed to make it to the Russian national team, joined the Uzbekistan national team in order to participate in the Olympic Games. However, he performed unsuccessfully at the Olympics in Sydney, taking only 14th place. After that, he finally ended his career as an athlete. Thus, Makharbek Khadartsev participated in four Olympic Games under four different flags.
