Katherine Martorell

A breakthrough face in Chile during 2020, Katherine Martorell Awad (Born January 18, 1982), Lawyer with a Master's degree in Law and active politician, has raised an increasing local popularity as the stylish and charismatic government's spokeswoman on urban security control and pandemic measures during citizen's lock down. In her role of Undersecretariat of Crime Prevention during second term of President Sebastian Piñera, she had to confront the social upheaval events of October 2019, and became a strong presence in mass media during Covid's uprising and sanitarian emergency. At 2021, she's one of the leading female representatives in Chilean politics, a voice against gender gaps and supportive of LGBT rights and inclusion, besides her role of coordinator of Police forces with the Minister of Internal Affairs, which have earned her a promissory career in politics and media.
