In 1998, Johnny moved to Los Angeles from Chicago to embark on his professional career as an entertainer, after toning his craft at Trinity Christian College, and Columbia College Of Fine Arts in the downtown area of Chicago, Illinois. He has starred and featured in numerous independent films, as well as Off-Broadway productions. In 2001, Johnny decided to take control of his career by starting his own production company, O.T.A.S. Productions. At that time, Perkins wrote, directed, and produced "The Sinful Nature Of A Man" on a very small scale, do to no budget. Using only his money that he received from his day job, Johnny worked diligently toward his dream, and opened his first show at the Climax Theater in Hollywood, California. The "Sinful Nature Of A Man" ran for four weeks to a sale out crowd, until Perkins ran out of money. Shortly after, Johnny walked away from entertainment to commit himself to full-time community service. In 2006, unable to stay away from his true passion in life, Johnny opened "The Sinful Nature Of A Man" at West Angles Theater in Los Angeles, California. He did a two week run at the theater and once again proved that he had what it takes to sale out a venue that housed over eight hundred audience members. In 2008 Perk Up Entertainment was birth and Johnny was now back to writing and producing. While serving as President of Perk Up Entertainment, Perkins wrote and produced an amazing line up of live productions. Which included 'Shadow of a Legend', which was a production in partnership with Chicago's historic Regal Theater. 'The Company You Keep, Sinful Company and also Johnny's flagship production 'The Sinful Nature Of A Man'; which starred the great Grammy-nominated, Stellar Award winning Vickie Winans which ran at Chicago's Regal Theater. Perskription Entertainment emerged in 2017 and in 2018 Johnny alongside of his nephew Wesley E. Perkins produced the successful sold out stage play 'Happy Birthday Henry Snikrep'. One year later, Happy Birthday Henry Snikrep was adapted into a screenplay and re-titled 'Daddy Issues'. Daddy Issues was also co-written, produced, and directed by Johnny, and can be seen on Amazon Prime, Tubi, Vimeo, and other streaming platforms.
