Born in New Delhi, India, Ruchi Kishore's first on-screen appearance was for the Indian News Channel NDTV when she was selected at 15 years old to create a documentary about Indian street food. From a young age, Kishore studied in theater workshops with distinguished actors such as Sanjana Kapoor and Faisal Alkazi, trained in Kathak (Indian Classical Dance) with Uma Shankar and in Bollywood, Contemporary, & Jazz dance styles with Ashley Lobo at the Danceworx Academy. In school, Kishore took guitar lessons and participated in inter-school choir competitions, even winning a few. In 2008, Kishore moved to the U.S. to pursue B.A. in Liberal Arts from Soka University of America where she completed her very first screenplay as part of her capstone. She then went on to graduate with an M.F.A. in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy campus located in Los Angeles. For the last decade, Kishore has held a variety of roles in many different spheres of the industry: from film festivals (IFFLA, LAFF, & Lafemme) and live TV events (Film Independent Spirit Awards on IFC) to indie feature films (Bad Sister on Lifetime). She has worked in TV development for Original Productions (Jay Leno's Garage & Ice Road Truckers) as well as post-production for Parker Plays (Digomind/Disney). Kishore was the producer and television host for select segments of Showbiz India, broadcast nationwide (Pearl Entertainment). She is currently a producer/editor for Timeless Today, global peace ambassador Prem Rawat's media company. You can watch her Bollywood dancing in The League (S7, E13 "The Great Night of the Shiva") and starring in the short film Bluish Grey, which was an Official Selection of the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival. In August 2021, her vast experience culminated in the form of the Award-Winning Hip-Hop Bollywood Musical, Dirty Chai, which had its world premiere at the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Written by and starring Ruchi, Dirty Chai won three awards, including a virtual performance at the Gothenburg Fringe Festival in Sweden. During the pandemic, Kishore officially launched Lights, Karma, Action! Productions LLC with her producing partner, Falcon Sang. Their all-immersive production company aims to elevate and amplify diverse voices and build bridges of inclusion. Under its banner, they released a number of projects, including the YouTube channel Real Life Ruchi, a satire dealing with the gap between Indian & American cultures. Kishore's team has begun development on the feature film version of Dirty Chai (release date TBD), based on her hit musical! In addition, Kishore writes and produces original content for creative influencers and corporate clients and is always looking to work with and meet more talented people!
