Jacqueline Frances Dorry was born in New Jersey, but she spent most of her life living in North Carolina. She moved to Cary, NC with her family at age ten. She attended UNC-Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC for her undergraduate education where she obtained a B.A. in Linguistics and then she attended East Carolina in Greenville, NC for her graduate education where she obtained an M.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders and completed an optional thesis on the topic of aphasia. She fell in love with acting at age ten when she was cast as Pocahontas in her Madison, New Jersey's Community Theatre summer production of "Legend of Pocahontas". By the end of that summer, she knew that she wanted to be a film actress one day. She is extremely grateful that her mother encouraged her to audition for that production. She took a six year hiatus from acting in her undergraduate and graduate school years, but she still immensely loved acting and continued to consider it her number one passion. After graduating from graduate school in December 2010, she returned to theatre acting and got cast in January 2012 as the lead female role, Rachel, in a Cary Players community theatre production (Cary, NC) of "Superhero" a play written by Mark Harvey Levine. She got nominated for Best Actress for her performance in that production. Other theatre roles that she enjoyed to date include: Puck in William Shakespeare's, "A Midsummer's Night's Dream", Bobbi Michele in Neuse Little Theatre's (Smithfield, NC) Neil Simon's "Last of the Red Hot Lovers", and Corie Bratter in Garner Towne Players (Garner, NC) Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park". Her film career began in 2015 and she began screenwriting in 2016. Her favorite role to date includes: the female lead, Phoenix in Phoenix (Directed by Rob Alan Underhill) in a short fantasy film she wrote. It is set to shoot in 2021. She also enjoyed playing the female lead, Jane Stone in Wake Me Up First (Directed by Rob Alan Underhill) in a short sci-fi film she wrote and the female lead, Valerie, in General Education (Directed by Michaela Erin Hudson) a comedic short film.
