Shannon Browning's father destroyed his son's chances of becoming a vet by taking him to see Star Wars when he was five. A natural born storyteller, he wrote his first feature-length screenplay at age 17. With a diploma in graphic design and fine arts, he developed his storytelling ability by creating a series of award-nominated graphic novels, while continuing to write scripts for short films. This lead to his first piece of professional recognition after winning the John Jameson screenwriting competition with his script 'Customer Service', which was produced as the short film 'Everything is Super', starring Gyton Grantley & Camille Keenan from Underbelly & House Husbands. Purchasing a video camera in his 20's, Shannon taught himself the dynamics of filmmaking through trial and error. After years honing his skills and volunteering on film sets and production houses, he took the plunge with his first professional production, a thriller short called 'Unhinged' made with the assistance of a Screen NSW funding grant. An invaluable learning experience, the production became a hands-on film school. Determined to improve his skills, Shannon spent the next three years working as a video producer while completing a course in video & film production. With these newfound skills, he delved into writing and directing the successful science fiction comedy short 'Grandfather Paradox', which won the best comedy award at the Toronto film festival. He followed this up the next year with a change of pace, writing and directing the emotional drama '3 Minutes', for which actress Lauren Hamilton Neill was nominated for a best actress award.
