Born 1945 in Hoddeston UK In 1961, after leaving school and the Ford motor company, he joined the anatomy department of The Royal College of Surgeons as a student technician. 1966 Obtained a degree in physics. 1969 Laboratory design award on optical tracking devices. 1971 Second laboratory award on optical tracking devices. 1977 Publication of 'The Color Atlas of Human Anatomy' co authored by Bob McMinn. This book is in it's seventh edition and has sold over three million copies in over sixteen languages. 1979 Won the Lancet award for 'The Color Atlas of Human Anatomy' 1980 Published 'Foot and Ankle' co authored with Bob McMinn and Barry Logan 1981 Left the Royal College of Surgeons to become a freelance scientific and medical photographer. 1981 Published 'Color Atlas of the Head and Neck' co authored by Bob McMinn and Bari Logan. 1982 Awarded 'Year Book International' medal. 1982 'Royal Society of Medicine' award. 1983 With a group of fellow enthusiasts purchased a derelict Victorian water pumping station to convert it into a motor museum. 1985 Published 'Surface Anatomy' co-authored by Ken Backhouse. 1990 Published 'Functional and Clinical Anatomy' co authored by Bob McMinn and Barry Logan. 1992 British Society of Medicine award. 1992 Published 'Concise Anatomy' co authored by Bob McMinn and Bari Logan. 1994 White Webbs Motor Museum opened to the general public. 1995 Published 'The Human Skeleton' co-authored by Bob McMinn and Barry Logan. 2000 After illustrating nearly fifty medical atlases and text books, and not being impressed with digital photography, he took up his first love cabinet making. He still continues to build Arts n' Crafts furniture and make one off parts for pre WW1 motorcars. He lives in an Edwardian house in north London with his wife Anne, an accomplished local artist, and a dog called Molly. His interests include helping to organize north London blues club St Harmonica's, Music in the Park, Apple Orchard project, wild life ponds and giving talks on social history. New authors have taken over Ralph's publications and the titles have been changed to 'The McMinn Atlas' in Bob McMinn's memory. 1981 Left the Royal College of Surgeons to become a freelance scientific and medical photographer. ----------- Ralph has photographically illustrated various books and digital programs for Simon and Schuster , Saunders, Elsiveir, Wolfe, C.R.C., Harcourt Brace, Pearson, Primal Pictures , McGraw -Hill, Manson Publishing, Midsummer Books and Purnell. His photos have appeared in art books by Thames and Hudson, at photographic exhibitions at the Hayward Gallery London and at the Museum of 20th Century Photography in Lausanne Switzerland.
