Natalie Phillips is an assistant professor at Michigan State University. She specializes in 18th century literature, the history of the mind and cognitive approaches to fiction. Her first book is called Distraction: Problems of Attention in Eighteenth-Century Literature focuses on how the Enlightenment ideas reshaped the literary form. Phillips is co-founder of the Digital Humanities and Literary Cognition Lab in the Department of English at MSU.
