Shania Banton

Shania Banton is a Writer, Director, and producer from Queens, NY. Her passion for storytelling has allowed her to launch a career in TV/Film/Video production and screenplay writing. While in college, she began her filmmaking journey, starting with developing her skills as a screenwriter. She now has over 7 years of experience creating films, web series, and digital content. She's worked with companies such as HBO, MTV, Netflix, 40 Acres Films, Blacktag, and Fiverr. Shania has been able to direct, write, and produce many independent shorts and series as well as unscripted and scripted television shows. Her web series WAVES is now streaming on Kweli TV, Amazon Prime, and Youtube. It was the #1 streaming series on Kweli TV for over 2 years and was featured in a Spike Lee documentary called "Da Republic of Brooklyn." Her one-woman created short film SWITCH has been in many festivals and is now streaming on Kweli TV and Amazon Prime. Shania has also been a finalist in the Starable Film Festival HBO Pitch Competition for her pilot script "I Wear Black".
