Rascal Does Not Dream

After a draining December, Sakuta is quickly nearing the end of his second year of high school. Since Mai is a third-year student, they don't have much time left together before graduation rolls around. Meanwhile, his sister, Kaede, is slowly but steadily venturing outdoors again. Just as she begins to find her footing, she announces her most ambitious goal yet-attending her brother's high school. Sakuta knows better than anyone how difficult this will be for Kaede, and he's ready to support her however he can. He's just not sure if that's what's best for her...or what she really wants.

In Fujisawa, where the skies are bright and the seas glisten, Sakuta Azusagawa is in his second year of high school. His blissful days with his girlfriend and upperclassman, Mai Sakurajima, are interrupted with the appearance of his first crush, Shoko Makinohara. For reasons unknown, he encounters two Shoko's: one in middle school and another who has become an adult. As Sakuta finds himself helplessly living with the Shoko's, the adult Shoko leads him around by the nose, causing a huge rift in his relationship with Mai. In the midst of all of this, he discovers that the middle school Shoko is suffering from a grave illness and his scar begins to throb.

It's March, and there's only one month left in the third semester. Sakuta Azusagawa attended the graduation ceremony of his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima. As he waits for Mai on the shore of Shichirigahama, an elementary school student who looks just like Mai from her childhood days appears in front of him. "Uncle, who is it?" Is this a dream or a vision?Sakuta is reminiscing about his mysterious experience when he receives a phone call from his father. "It's about my mother. She said she wanted to meet Kaede". It was a wish to "see her" from Kaede's mother, who had been hospitalized for a long time because she could not fully accept what had happened to her. In response to his mother's wishes, he decides to meet her mother with Kaede, but he cannot hide his nervousness at the opportunity to meet her for the first time in a while. An unfamiliar scar appears on Sakuta's body. Is this a harbinger of a new adolescent syndrome?
