In 1940, Antje is preparing for the next Olympic Games when war breaks out and her life is turned upside down. Her best friend Milly, is Jewish, meaning she's not safe any more. And Antje's father, Tunnis, also her coach, is turned away from the Athletics club, because he is a traitor. That's because he is a member of the NSB. What this exactly means, Antje does not know, but not long after she finds out more than she would like. Milly has to flee and Tunnis wants Antje to join the Youth Storm. Antje is conflicted: how is it possible that her kind father is a traitor? When her father disappears for a few days, Antje gets an awful feeling. Her worst fear turns out to be true: he was shot and didn't survive. Shortly thereafter, the war comes to an end and now Antje has to flee because of the crimes of her father. She finally turns herself into the allies and she is interned at Westerbork, a former concentration camp. She is seen as a traitor and treated badly. After a few years, she is set free, to pick up the pieces of her life.
