A fictional period espionage drama, Mukhbir is set in the 1960s when after the Sino-Indian war, India was battling the humiliation of betrayal along with a shattered economy. There was a constant threat of Pakistan trying to repeat the Chinese story -- catch India off guard and launch an attack using its newly acquired armoury strength. India could ill afford another war and the only way counter the belligerent neighbour was with superior intel. An unconventional approach was employed by the Indian intelligence machinery to deploy a conman as an onground asset in Pakistan as a common man. He was planted in a family in Lahore under the pretext of being a child having been left behind in India during the partition. What follows is the Indian spy entering Pakistan, making inroads into the upper echelons of Pakistani establishment. But will he be able to get any critical intelligence at the right time and help turn the tide in India's favour?
