TFW is a 22 minute, single-camera, comedy series. Inspired by high-concept series with snappy dialogue like Two Broke Girls, Cheers, and Frasier, with the linear storytelling arc of shows like Grace and Frankie, Santa Clarita Diet, and we explore the everyday frustrations of everyday life, working, relationships, parenthood and life after prison. Taryn Wheeler owns a café in a city in Ontario (maybe Toronto, Kitchener or Hamilton). She's a smart, opinionated and funny woman who balances running a small business, being a daughter (her mother lives with her) and being a foster mom to two teenagers. Life is hectic, but she has it under control. Things change when her ex-husband, Donny, walks into her café one day. Donny isn't looking to get back together with Taryn, he just wants to rebuild his life after serving time. Like most ex-cons, he has a hard time finding a job due to his criminal record. Donny lives with his brother, Dennis, a jack-of-all-trades who loves practical jokes. Things take a turn when one of Taryn's waitresses suddenly quits on the spot. Taryn needs help during a rush and he needs a job. He's hired -for the day, anyway.
