In 'The Return of Brian Willing', Brian is fired from the top 6:30pm nightly news spotlight, but is kept on as a street reporter for the subsidiary network's 11 o'clock slot. His firing was due to exaggerations about his involvement in News stories, and he has now morphed into utter nonsense. The CEO, Leibowitz, who will be moving to a liberal network, feels that Willing's zany, ludicrous mixups in reporting has entertainment value and the high ratings prove it. So Liebowitz puts his family in charge of a comedy show on his network. Willing has no idea of this new show he's starring in, and all he believes is that his glorious return will happen if he does street reporting and appeal to the needs of the people-and even animals. Because of a developing split personality disorder, he is 'willing' to do anything to make his comeback. Will he find out about his new show and succeed with it to the point of being convinced to start a new career as an actor? Or will he have a future in news?
