Lakhan Kaka a postman in village who goes door to door to deliver letter since years.Lata is a beautiful and simple women in the same village always waiting for Lakhan Kaka in the intention that her husband Sudhir working in the city will write her letter someday.Lata is always let down and asks Lakhan Kaka to read old letters of her husband so that she can feel better,Sharad is a newly appointed postman in the village after Lakhan Kaka retires Lata always waits for Sharad's arrival unlike Lakhan Kaka hoping to receive letter from Sudhir.Lata is left lonely only with old letters through which she remembers the good time she spent with Sudhir.The village also has a brothel run by Meher Bi where dance is only mean of entertainment and prostitution is strictly prohibited.Sharad starts to write letters to Lata in name of Sudhir and both get attracted towards each other then one fine day Sudhir arrives and takes Lata to the city leaving Sharad distressed.Lata who has fallen in love with Sharad forces Sudhir to leave her back to village while Sharad whose frustrated with Lata being far from him goes to the brothel and forces a lady to break their rules and get physical with him as they are in need of money.Lata returns back to her village where she and Sharad cross all boundaries of their relationship.
