Anna Quint, a newly qualified doctor, returns to her Austrian hometown of Ischgl for the first time since childhood. There to settle the affairs of her recently deceased mother, Anna is haunted by memories of a childhood shattered by the death of her father. Having been sent away at age twelve by a mother that had turned suddenly inhumanly cold and distant, effectively orphaned, Anna has learned to rely on no one but herself. Arriving at Christmas in Ischgl with best friend, Bianca, Anna is astounded to find the once sleepy hamlet of her childhood has become a pulsating hive of greed, opulence and excess, catering to the world's financial and celebrity elite. Suspicious of outlandish offers made by local business interests to buy her family's hotel and troubled by the inexplicable medical evidence concerning her mother's death, Anna feels compelled to stay in Ischgl and investigate. Peeling back layers of lies and secrets, Anna slowly unearths horrifying truths; that her parents were intimately linked to a hidden, ruthless society that has conceived the resort as a lure for the world's most wealthy and powerful, to satisfy a monstrous agenda. Despite a rising tide of intrigue, betrayal, secret violence and murder, Anna remains determined to learn the truth behind Ischgl and its impact on her family's tragic history. Yet Anna soon learns she has placed herself at the centre of a far larger and unimaginable conflict; one not just global but eternal, waged for the possession of an immortal being.
