McGee and Me! (1989)

Television series about the interactions between a live-action boy and an animated friend. The setting is the small town of Eastfield, Indiana. The 11-year-old Nicholas Martin is a newcomer to town, as his family just moved in with his widowed grandmother. Nicholas is the son of a journalist and a secretary, but he is not interested in either career path. He is an aspiring artist and cartoonist. He created the character McGee to act as his confidant and sounding board, while Nicholas deals with the moral dilemmas and temptations of daily life. Nicholas' main foe was initially the bully Derrick Cryder, but they befriended each other when Derrick rescued Nicholas from a more violent foe.
