Verbal references to sex are made by characters, e.g. characters discussing taking a shower together, a man telling a woman how they once had great sex, etc.

A teenage boy moons a police officer. His bare behind is seen briefly.

Two teenage girls are seen undressed, hiding behind sheets in a motel. A bra from one of the girls is found. It is stated that the girls were raped and may have STDs.

A naked infant is seen briefly.

A girl states that she was out "screwing half the town" (she is stating this to annoy her mother).

There is no actual sex on-screen (it was a broadcast show on public television). However, there are some heavy themes dealt with such as rape, sexual abuse and teen pregnancy.

A boy films a nurse and police officer having sex, later attempting to broadcast it on his town's TV station under the title "Naked Gun".

A wall poster warning about HIV/AIDS is seen in the background of some scenes.

Implication that a band chief had an affair with a woman.

Scenes of men shirtless and walking around with shirts unbuttoned.

Detailed descriptions of pregnancy and childbirth are made.

A man rolls in the snow and tongue-kisses a loan officer. He is later seen in bed shirtless with her. The loan officer is then seen sleeping with a stranger in a plastic party hat.

A gutted moose is seen lying in the snow (various organs are seen briefly, and a young girl tells a man that she saw the moose's severed leg floating down a river).

Brief scenes of domestic abuse and child abuse (teenage girl being hit upside the head, man getting punched in the head by his wife).

A woman undergoes a home birth and is seen sweating and screaming in pain.

A girl attempts suicide. Blood is briefly seen in the snow, and later her bandaged wrists are seen.

A woman threatens to kill her drunk husband.

A teenage boy is punched by a police officer.

A man jumps from the steeple of a church, breaking several bones.

Boys practice boxing; a boy hits another boy and that boy is later seen with a bruised, swollen face. A police officer is punched, as well.

A man hits another man in the stomach with an ax. The man is only mildly injured and no wound or visible gore/blood is depicted on-screen.

Discussion of animal hunting, as well as stepping on an animal's head being disrespectful, talk of poaching, etc.

A girl's deceased corpse (concealed entirely in plastic) is pulled up from an urban river.

A boy is beaten. He has his ribs kicked in and his face is punched.

A major character is shot in the shoulder, but recovers.

A man barricades himself in a trailer with a shotgun. He breaks down and cries, discussing his Ukrainian heritage, including a famine that killed eight million people.

Talk of a lynx being killed for its fur; young children are shown a graphic animal rights tape and are disturbed by it. One girl tells her mother how the lynx was "crying and choking as its tongue swelled up before it died".

A major character is injured in a gas explosion. He wears a sling and has a concussion.

A woman has a stroke and loses her ability to speak.

An elderly man trips and rolls down a hill. His ankle twists apart.

A deceased mouse is dredged up from a town water well that people have been drinking from. The mouse's corpse is briefly seen in a net.

Racial slurs are made in some episodes: "Indian", "red", "savage", and similar derogatory terms towards indigenous people, as well as insults towards white people.

Usage of "shit", "piss", "damn", "goddamn", "bastard", "pig", "slut", "bitch", "god/oh my god", "hell", "asshole", "window-peeper" and "ass". These are used very sparingly, for the record.

Some mild name-calling, usually among younger characters, e.g. "loser", "creep", "jerk", "moron".

Some sexual slurs, "humping", "doing", "faggot", "prostitute", "hunk", "buggering", "piece of ass", "piece of the pie", etc.

One of the running themes in the show is that Lynx River is a dry town where alcohol is prohibited. It is mentioned that a lot of "partying" went on in the past and that many characters had problems with alcoholism. One married couple discuss going out drunk and accidentally leaving a fire going, which killed 2 of their 4 children.

A grown man pays a boy to bring him wine. The man then gets two minor children drunk and rapes one of them.

A police officer is seen drinking vodka and later the empty bottle falls out of his briefcase in court. He also attempts to bring alcoholic beverages into town with him, but they are confiscated.

Characters are bootleggers and attempt to smuggle alcohol.

Teenagers drink. One girl in particular is an alcoholic who is often seen drinking whisky.

A man goes into withdraw from alcohol and sobs in prison. He is also seen passed out in a garage after drinking too much.

Some brief scenes of death, violence and peril (breached pregnancy, man falling off roof, etc.)

An eleven-year-old girl is told by her deadbeat father that he wants her to live with him in another town. She is extremely excited about his prospect, but then he inexplicably flees town, leaving her screaming and crying in the street. This is rather upsetting.

The suicide attempt scene is very sad and may disturb some viewers.

Fights and arguments between characters, some escalating into physical violence, may bother viewers.

The treatment of some of the Native characters, e.g. the US Air Force men referring to them as "Indians" and raping a female character, may disturb viewers.
