Family Classics (1962)

A WGN channel 9 Chicago show that the whole family can watch. Family Classics featured good wholesome movies. Premiered on September 14, 1962. Originally broadcast on Friday evenings with host Frazier Thomas. Was later moved to Sunday afternoons. Frazier personally picked which movies would be shown. He also oversaw the editing of each film for the show. When Frazier suddenly passed away in 1985. Roy Leonard became the host. Family Classics had a regular run up until December 25, 2000. At that point Family Classics was no longer on the air. In 2017 Family Classics was brought back with a special Christmas time showing of Scrooge (1951) hosted by Dean Richards. Since then WGN has been having Family Classics broadcast for special occasions. Usually with Dean Richards as host, but more recently with Steve Sanders as the host.
