The marines see plenty aftermath from previous battles during their travels from town to town. They come across many civilian bodies and blood strewn throughout streets.
Battles are infrequent due to the fact that much of the war was spend in boredom. However, there are some intense battle sequences with blood shown.
Lots of violence in this show. Dead bodies are seen everywhere, covered in blood. A man is seen dead in a car with blood splattered all over the windshield. People get shot with large blood spurts spraying out. An adolescent girl is seen dead in a pool of blood with her legs blown off. A wounded soldier is seen. His stomach is a shredded, bloody pulp. Intense battle scenes throughout.

Marines are hit by a mine. Very sudden. One suffers a bloody leg injury, and the other loses an eye. His bloody facial wound is shown up close.
There are a few intense battles throughout the show. People get shot in most of them. The first battle just shows bloody bullet holes on people when they are shot, but the following battles are much more graphic, with headshots and large blood sprays.
Some graphic talk about killing. Soldiers talk about shooting a donkey and watching its head explode. Another soldier shoots an enemy and says he saw the man's knee explode.
Soldiers hear wild dogs getting shot offscreen.
