Dance Energy (1990)

Dance Energy was BBC's alternative of their ever successful Top of the pops. But rather playing chart music, Dance Energy focused on 1990s RnB and club music from that era. And where TOTPs had started to focus more on the artists, rather than the audience dancing. Dance Energy found that happy medium and would be a mix of the artists on stage and the audience pulling out some excellent dance move's in front of the cameras. Hosted by the ever charismatic Normski. This BBC2 youth show was just what the younger generation of the time wanted, and the whole experience didn't disappoint. With acts like, Naughty by Nature, Rebel MC, Cathy Denis, Human Nature, Lisa Stansfield, SL2, M-People, Shaman, Rozella and many more. The program was the coolest show on UK TV at that time. The only way to be part of the audience at the time was to be a dancer in order to keep with its cool vibes. It wasn't long before it became a cult classic and sealed many artists road to success and a loyal ever appreciative audience.
