Anne is in her late thirties and has moved back to her mothers home to care for her after an operation. The monotony of her days is broken only by the snapping sound of assembling a ballpoint pen and by the constant ringing of the phone. "You've dialed the wrong number," Anne repeats over and over. Meanwhile her mother has settled in front of the TV, making no effort to fight her health condition. Old conflicts and power struggles between the two very different women resurface, turning the small three-room apartment into a pressure cooker ready to explode. Then one day, in the midst of all the hopelessness and gloom, the phone rings again.
