We Are a Motive (2022)

Elvira is a med student whose holier-than-thou attitude clashes with that of her wild, younger cousin, Florencia. After accusing Florencia of disclosing certain scandalous events occurred during spring break, Elvira resorts to both threaten her cousin and blackmail their mutual lover, Mau, to plot against the youngest of the two girls. Oblivious to the grand scheme already in motion, Elvira will walk right into the trap designed by her own insecurities. Told from an artistic perspective that involves Egon Schiele's most profound work, particularly the 'Death Mother' series; and shot on the Canon XL-1 Camcorder, the cam on board NASA's space mission STS-93, this short film is a loving reminder of the teenage experiences from the turbulent Mexico of 1999.
