Carter Stokes and her 3 best friends Micah Chavez, Izzy Mannetti, and Hayden Hughes embark on their senior year of basketball at Edgewater High School. Due to past struggling seasons, budget issues, and a misogynistic principal, the school revokes all promotion of the team and will shut down the program indefinitely if they lose another game. Basketball is the only way the Core Four will get to college. This obstacle adds to the many pressures the crew is already facing off the court. When half the team quits, Carter must work herself even harder as team captain to keep the remaining players together as one. She feels her only connection with her late basketball legend mother is fading away. Her father gets in an accident, Carter's overwhelmed, Micah threatens to quit, and Tyra Brooks consistently bullies the four. Carter is barely holding on. Family and financial issues within Micah, Izzy, and Hayden lives are added to the heat of chaos. Games become exhausting and tense with limited numbers, off-court distractions, and the season ending threat looming. Now, if the Edgewater Riveters make playoffs they'll face the dominate Cedar Park Lonestars. Cedar Park is known for their dangerous and aggressive play as well as a conniving head coach. It'll be a high stakes match up for the Texas High School State Championship Game and the 4's future college careers hang in the result.
