Boy of Straw (2022)

BOY OF STRAW (written and directed by award winning filmmaker Chigozie Onyeaka) tells the story of Theodore (Micah Bijon). After leaving a home soccer game just to find several missed calls from school authorities, Theodore learns that an exorbitant amount of marijuana was found in his house. Although the drugs was not his, Theodore is required to attend Drug and Alcohol therapy as well as defend himself at a school sanctioned court hearing, taking place over the phone. Theodores court hearing is the morning after his session and he needs Ricky, one of his house mates, to pick up the phone as a witness to clear his name. After a brief video call with Ricky and a conversation with Tobe and his girlfriend Maya, his feeling of Ricky skipping out on the court hearing only worsens. During his final conversation with Ricky through a video call, Ricky hangs up abruptly at the end of the conversation. All Theodore's left with is hoping the best for his life changing court hearing.
