Will, a young Taiwanese male, fresh from completing his mandatory military service is depending on a celebratory night out with his best friend Jay to escape from his parents. Will has committed an unforgivable act against his parents and begins to feel the severity of his action. Jay, on the other hand, bears good news; he's beaten the odds and won the lottery for a U.S. Green card, giving him the opportunity to work and live in the U.S. After a quick pit stop to pick up some Taiwanese essentials - beers and betel nut, the two arrive at the beach just in time for sunset. Sharing a smoke, the two friends realise that their time together in Taiwan will soon come to an end as Jay prepares to leave for the U.S. to chase his destiny - the American dream. The same destiny Will's parents had wished for their son. The next morning, Will falls victim to his inner demons and as a result, commits an act of self-sabotage leaving him and Jay stranded.
