Arthur struggles to understand how to help his son, Jason, when Jason begins exhibiting signs of severe mental illness and poor coping mechanisms. Arthur attempts to initiate a dialogue and fails. He and his wife, Julie, take Jason to a psychologist for an evaluation. The psychologist gives them a list of diagnoses that Jason indicates, scaring the family. Upon arrival to drop a newly-graduated Jason off at college, Arthur again attempt to say the right things to Jason. He cannot find the right words, and Jason responds by simply stating that he will be okay. Through the years, Arthur and Julie are shown to be loving and supportive of Jason. Jason and Arthur get out of the car to share a moment. Jason attempts to find the right words to say and also comes up short. He settles for a thank you, and the two embrace.
