Groupe Amanar is a band from the Kidal region in northeastern Mali, and is one of the ambassadors for contemporary Touareg music. The "desert blues" from Mali reached the outside world through musicians such as Ali Farka Touré and later Tinariwen. The style has emerged as a hallmark of Touareg culture and living conditions, marked by conflict, resistance and exile. Groupe Amanar has its own sound of "desert blues" with shimmering guitar playing, a swing with dancing lightness and melancholic undertone, yet vibrant. Singer and guitarist Ahmed Ag Kaedy founded Groupe Amanar in 2005. He has composed all the songs that are performed together with the band on electric guitar, bass and drums.
