In the year 2176, a crew of 30 human volunteers undertook an interstellar expedition to the distant planet Norvius to determine if the planet would be suitable for human colonization. Upon reaching the planet, their cruiser was shot down by a mysterious vessel of unknown origin, and only a few survivors made it down to the planet's surface. Due to the extreme distance between Norvius and Earth, the remains of the missing explorers were never recovered. All of the missing volunteers were listed as "Killed in Action," and the entire expedition crew were commemorated as international heroes by the EarthGov Consortium. But maintenance crewman James did not die when he froze. An intelligent virus James had contracted while on the cruiser kept his body alive, and James spent the next 45 years preserved in a state of suspended animation as the snow and ice buried him over the following decades. Now it is the year 2221, and the snow enveloping James has started to melt under the Norvian sun.
