Leerbeutel tries in vain to raise money to pay the term. Together with his partner in the art of fraud, Pernille, he initiates a prank, so that the town's merchants believe that a simple peasant boy is in fact a distinguished count with Leerbeutel himself in the role of courtier. With this title, the city's merchants are now far more benevolent in lending him money and valuables. The peasant boy unsuspectingly takes on the role, but there is a bill to be paid. TV adaptation of Holberg's 1751 comedy.
