On September 12, 1980, the Turkish Armed Forces seized the administration with the intervention it carried out within the chain of command, citing the political instability and the turmoil created by the economic crisis as a reason. Thousands of innocent people were sacrificed for the so-called democracy in this military period when Turkish politics were redesigned, with trials, blackouts, torture and death sentences.
