A man passing through a country road picks up a hitchhiking woman. He introduces himself as Hank, the woman calls herself Amy. They drive to a convenience store and Hank buys Amy some food. They both sit in the back of Hank's truck while he attempts small talk. Noticing the blood and dirt caked in her nails and on her clothes, Hank becomes concerned not only for his safety, but Amy's as well. Hank begins telling her about his life and his family in an attempt to sympathize with Amy. It turns a bit sour, however, after he jokes about Amy killing her husband. Hank begins patronizing her until she finally admits that she's unsure if she killed him or not; she didn't stay long enough to check if he was dead. Hank then must decide whether or not he's going to continue taking Amy down the road or if their time together is over.
