Beneranda sits quietly, treating her knee with medicinal leaves. Meanwhile, on his porch David rubs his skin with herbal lotion. The birds sing their songs of the morning. Isidro begins spraying the crops in his garden. As he walks, the soil sticks to his boots and goes with him. Three little goats come out of their shed, the last with Beneranda. She calls onto the others who follow her lead. David listens. The birds call to him, and he seems to understand them. Beneranda ties her goats to a strong tree, and they feast on the abundance around them. Isidro eats a banana and lays down to rest. As his eyes close, images flicker of the textures of their skin. The skin becomes trees, then branches, and gradually more sounds of life join in the symphony. The whispers come together before the dancing of an old brown leaf in front of a canvas of green.
