The peasant farmer Tursun brings his wife, who suffers from infertility, to prayer in the mosque. Here Ishman (the highest Mohammedan mullah) rapes her. She has a daughter. In the 30s of the 20th century, Soviet power comes to Uzbekistan. The Komsomol members of the textile factory agitate the peasants to join the collective farms, which is opposed by the clergy, headed by Ishman. Being at the mercy of prejudice, Tursun refuses to join the collective farm and does not allow his daughter Oinisa to become a Komsomol member. Ishman notices Oinisa and decided to marry her. Oinisa's mother, in order to prevent the father from marrying his own daughter, sends her daughter to the city. There, the girl, with the help of friends of the Komsomol, enters a textile factory. Ishman incites Tursun to kill his wife for letting her daughter go to the city and dooming her to a "sinful" path. When attempting to murder his wife, Tursun learns from her the truth about the birth of his daughter.
