In their youth, they fell foul of the GDR's justice system: Gisela Tuchtenhagen and Margot Neubert-Maric portray three ex-prisoners on whom the experience of prison has left lifelong scars. Bützow Prison was notorious for being overfull and delapidated. It was here that Siegfried, Bruno and Klaus served sentences of several years, cooped up in one-man cells. Worn down by endless interrogation and violence, they confessed to everything they were accused of: espionage, subversive agitation, being a threat to the defence preparedness of the GDR. Much time has passed, but not one day when they don't think of the time they served.
