Life can be difficult. We know that. We all need something to rely on. Football is our religion. It's theatre, art, war and love. It's ectasy, anguish, joy and despair. Part of our history. Part of our country. It's a feeling that can't be explained but we spend our lives explaining it. We do not apologise for it. We do not deny it. There are teams, our family and our life. But now everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work, or scared of losing their job. Banks are going bust; and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know things are bad - worse than bad - they're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller. The beautiful game of passion, pride, heart, loyalty, team spirit; risks to became infected by the dark, the ugly: money, business, power, betray, hooligans. The bad side of football. A disease.
