A lone drifter, his only company his duffel bag and guitar, stops to take a rest at four-way in the country. He takes out his guitar and begins to play the blues, unaware that he's summoning a dark, mysterious man who is no doubt the devil. The stranger compliments the drifter on his playing, and offers to show him a "little lick he wrote a long time ago." The drifter lets him, and the stranger plays one of the most haunting blues licks the drifter has ever heard. The stranger then hands the drifter his guitar back and suggests he try it out. When the drifter plays the lick, the stranger disappears, leaving behind a piece of paper tacked to his duffel bag--a soul contract, with the drifter's signature scribbled across the bottom.
