Mariela is a soccer-loving Argentine woman living in Miami, FL. She hopes to one day follow the steps of her late mother and become a famous actress, but the entertainment industry's stigma against non-Mexican Spanish accents prevents her from getting booked for gigs as a host for television programs. The pressure to get hired by the TV shows has never been so crucial until the day her actress-roommate kicks her out of their shared apartment in order to further her personal career. Mariela's Argentine accent betrays her during an audition at a casting office when the Casting Director bluntly tells her that the target audience of nearly the entire U.S. Hispanic entertainment industry is Mexican and that similar to her mother, she will not get far with an Argentine accent. Having been shot in multicultural Miami, with a cast of several Mexican actors, only one Argentine actress, and a light, comedic touch, this film will reveal a prejudice of the entertainment industries you had probably never noticed before.
