I Am a Village (2018)

Gran Kreek: an indigenous village that is not even on the map. The village's first female 'Captain' (leader) has been chosen: the charismatic teacher, Angelique Palmtak. At her traditional inauguration, even the President shows up. This raises expectations among the villagers about Angelique. All assume that - with these kind of connections - she will settle land claims and develop tourism. But to achieve all of this, Angelique will need the help of all residents. A challenge in itself. Meanwhile, unrest and rumors are bubbling beneath the surface. Can Angelique unite her people, and make the small creek 'Grand' again?
