This RTHK cultural program features 4 segments. Segment 1 "Theatre du Pif - Dance Me to the End of Love" is about local multicultural theatre group Theatre du Pif, which was set up by Sean Curran and Bonni Chan Lai-chu. This week they are performing a rerun of "Dance Me to the End of Love", their production that melds the songs of Leonard Cohen with Hermann Hesse's novel "Siddhartha". They talk to RTHK about how the play came about. Segment 2 covers "Mabou Mines Dollhouse" premiere in Hong Kong. Henrik Ibsen's "A Doll's House" shocked audiences when it was first performed, not only for its social commentary but for its departures from conventional structure. To jaded theatre-goers, it might seem a little old-hat now, but theatre group The Mabou Mines, which performed it here in Hing Kong over the weekend, believes you can always create a fresh perspective, as director Lee Breuer and the cast members explain to RTHK. Segment 3 depicts amateurs of Impressionist and Modern Art Masterpieces in Hong Kong. Just under two weeks from now, a collection of masterpieces by Impressionists, post-Impressionists, and other modern painters will be auctioned in London. Works include paintings by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Modigliani, Lucian Freud, and Andy Warhol. The auctioneers, Sotheby's, brought many of them to Hong Kong recently to give prospective bidders a look. RTHK took advantage of the opportunity to see them. Segment 4 presents jazz-rock performer Jamie Cullum: Young British jazz-rock performer Jamie Cullum takes to the stage in Hong Kong. RTHK caught up with him at lunchtime today.
