Anna Fábri lives in a country where women either work or give birth, there is no middle way - thanks to the State's so-called Vector Program. At age 18 they join Conscripted Motherhood, give life to 3 novel citizens, and then go on to study as a Mother of Nation at the State University. They have an option to choose a civilian profession, in that case however, they get sterilized. Only if they work for the National Ministry of Population-Growth, can they skip Conscription and keep their fertility, but the agents have to keep the Program going for 20 years.
