The Barn films are relatively tongue-in-cheek, paying homage to a style of independent regional filmmaking most prevalent in the 1980s. This film features an abundance of over-the-top practical gore and creature effects that are very obviously cheap looking, yet nonetheless effective for what the creators set out to achieve. Gore and violence frequently have a darkly comic effect similar to the Evil Dead movies.
