Shaka's Mask (2019)

Shaka, a privileged young man, from a affluent family is forced to run his family's business after his parents tragically passed away. The business is now facing bankruptcy under his management. Shaka does not want to be seen as a failure and does not want to lose his status, so he lies and pretends on social media that his life is perfect. He uses social media to suppress his true reality and to escape his seemingly failing life . He owes people money and his business is about to be liquidated and he is insecure about his love life. Things get worse when he continues to see social media updates from another young man like himself who seems to have all the success that Shaka wants. Shaka becomes obsessed with his social media lies that the lines between what he has lied about and what is real become a blur in his mind when he starts to be taunted by an anonymous user. The user makes him become paranoid that people will discover that he has been lying about his life . This makes Shaka spiral to paranoia and violence to a point where he commits an unforgivable crime.
