The opening is with the car pulling up to the old estate home. It's not dark and dingy, but the house is its own Character. Aimee and Matteson, are seen as typical mother and daughter starting a new life in a familiar but uncomfortable setting. Matteson has never met her Aunt Viv because Viv hasn't left the house or town because of her condition. She is surprised to find her with such a vibrant personality. Although Aimee doesn't see her that way, she has heard over years that Aunt Viv and Aimees Grandmother were rivals of sorts, over a man - Aimees Grandmother. Aimees Grandparents died before she was born, but she had heard the stories of a torrid love affair - or was it unrequited love? Time passing has grayed the stories in her mind. Aimee is hopeful and wanting to put a brave face on for Matteson's sake and encourage her this is only temporary until her money comes through from the business she shared with her ex husband and she can start another business in a new town. There are secrets in the home and we can see Aimee recall as the film goes on, but not quite fully understand until the end.
