August 1996. The morning after a party at the family cottage, Zoé and her brother Fred wake up to find that the contents of the living room have been piled on a wooden boat now drifting away on the lake. A VHS flashback shows yesterday's loud party as the guest wish Zoé goodbye. As Zoé tries to make sense of last night's events, her mother calls to remind her that she is picking her up to bring her to the airport in a few hours. Zoé rushes to the boat and struggles to push it back to shore, ending up falling in the water fully-clothed as a result. After getting a call from her best friend Clarice inquiring about when she is planning to move it with her, Zoé cleans up the sticky boat helped by a visibly hungover Fred. As they reminisce about a childhood spent at the cottage, they notice the VHS camera in the boat and hurry to plug it into the TV to watch a playback of yesterday. The tape reveals that the originator of the catastrophe was a drunken Fred trying to prevent Zoé from leaving the next day. Furious, Zoé scolds him and packs her bags. Fred watches the end of the tape alone and sees himself, drunk and melancholic, claiming that he doesn't want her to leave because he is not an only child, and because they have always been a team. Fred then sadly watches Zoé leave.
