A League Apart

1991. Wrexham, Wales. Phil is your typical 1990's bloke, he loves a drink with his mates and loves his football team Wrexham FC even more. After going to watch the match instead of attending a christening with his girlfriend Christina, he returns home to discover she has left him - sick of being a sports widow and having to deal with Phil's mood swings based on a sports result. Christina moves in with her feisty friend Gillian and her life quickly improves...a new boyfriend in her boss Marty, and a pending job promotion back home in America, Phil's life spirals until he receives 'a sign' of how to win Christina back. With blind belief and optimism, Phil has a renewed lease of life and somehow believes if his loser team Wrexham can beat the champions Arsenal in the FA Cup, then Christina will return to him...all he has to do is believe, oh, and change everything about himself. Based on a true story, A League Apart is a nostalgic non-romantic comedy about hope, relationships and life.
