Just when, for the first time in five centuries, the National Gallery in London managed to bring together all six Titian's classic nude masterpieces based on Greek and Roman mythology for an art exhibit titled Titian - Love, Desire, Death (16 March - 14 June 2020), the COVID-19 pandemic closed all galleries in the UK. This documentary takes a unique look at the background of the paintings, how Philip II of Spain, who commissioned them, planned to pay for them, Titian as an artist and businessman, the role of courtesans in Titian's 16th century Venice, and the controversial subject of female nudity and sexual exploitation in classic art.
