Branca Dias was a Portuguese Jewish lady who in the 1500's, after being persecuted and imprisoned by the Inquisition, emigrated to Brazil. She had 11 children, and as a New Christian, kept practicing Judaism secretly at home. She is considered the first educator of Brazil, as she taught domestic skills to young women. Her generation spread vastly through Brazil's Northeast, as is explained in an exclusive interview with Dr. Cândido Pinheiro Koren De Lima, the great genealogy expert from Fortaleza.
