Norah and Dan are two artists struggling for success in NYC; Norah as a novelist and Dan as an actor. Norah misses her longtime friend, Savannah, who has been distant since she began dating Jack a few months ago. Excited to reconnect with their friend, Norah and Dan accept an invitation to dinner at Jack's apartment. Upon arrival, they quickly they realize they have very little in common with Jack who lives in a chic, upscale Williamsburg apartment - the New Yorker's dream. Norah and Dan barely recognize Savannah who has completely embraced her new lifestyle. The night turns from awkward to combative when Jack reveals that he believes artists in the current day and age are selfish. Norah protests, but Jack explains that if she actually wanted to do something meaningful, she should be running for office, volunteering, or pursuing a career that actively helped other people. The question lingers - can a career in art truly make a difference in the world today?
