The memory of the atomic bomb and of its terrible consequences constitutes the identity of Hiroshima city. It was rebuilt around its Peace Memorial Park, but the grass has grown back, and time has all but erased the last signs of atomic desolation. Alongside the river, the trees of Shukkeien garden, where the writer Tamiki Hara ran for his life on the morning of August 6, 1945, seem to be eternally standing. "I have filmed here some fragments of the many memories which still blanket the city," says the director.
